Over the past few weeks, the Facebook messenger has been testing out new features in their major release of Messenger 4.
One of the features included in the release is Dark Mode Theme.

For the past weeks, Facebook is rolling out slowly in selected countries to try the Dark Mode Theme. This mode is currently hidden and needs some trick to enable it on your settings.
You can enable this long time ago by using tricks to force Dark Mode on but requires a rooted Android device.
But in this case, we’re happy that we can try this out without rooting. All you need to do is send Moon Emoji to any of your friends then the Dark Mode settings will be visible on your Messenger’s settings forever.

How to activate Facebook Messenger Dark Mode Theme (Step by step guide)
- First, update your Facebook Messenger to the latest version. You can skip this if you have the latest Facebook Messenger.
- Go to Google Play Store
- Search for Messenger
- Update it.
- Now, send Moon Emoji to any of your friends and a falling moon emojis will rain down in the thread.
- Then it will prompt that you have found Dark Mode. Just click, “TURN ON IN SETTINGS“.
- You can disable Dark Mode by going to your profile settings, then toggle Dark Mode Off.
The feature is said to be available in both Android and iOS users. Facebook plans to roll out this Dark Mode to all its users in the coming weeks or months.
But you can enjoy these features now to have a fresh look of your messenger and to save battery with your AMOLED display.
